There is no better place for families these April school holidays than Sydney Opera House, with two new theatre shows, free creative play activities and a special tour of the House designed just for kids.

The award-winning picture book Room on the Broom will be brought to life on stage for audiences aged under 8. Family favourite The Listies return to Sydney Opera House with their new show about the world of the silver screen in The Listies in 6D* (*that’s twice as good as 3D). Kids Discovery Tours will take children behind the scenes of one of the busiest performing arts centres in the world. Our free Creative Play activities in the Western Foyer will unlock every child’s inner comedian with participatory activities and interactive installations.

Jonathan Bielski, Head of Programming at Sydney Opera House said, "Generations of Sydney families have enjoyed the thrill of the performing arts at their Opera House. This coming school holidays we will be a major destination with shows, kids tours, special lunchboxes and free activities for all. Everyone is welcome at Bennelong Point so come enjoy holidays at the House."

The team behind The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child return with this magical musical adaptation of Room on the Broom, the award-winning picture book by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler. Room on the Broom combines physical theatre, music and beautiful puppetry to bring this popular story about friendship, cooperation and sharing to the stage for children aged 3-8… and their grown-ups!

Kids comedy duo, The Listies, return to Sydney for School holidays at Sydney Opera House with a brand new show about the movies – The Listies in 6D. In 2012 Matt Kelly and Richard Higgins, the award winning Listies, charmed Opera House audiences with their brilliant show More Fun Than A Wii. Now they’re back with a new show lampooning the world of the silver screen.

Dates: 16 – 28 April, 11am & 2pm
Venue: Studio, Sydney Opera House

This special tour takes children (and parents) beneath the Sails and behind the scenes to discover a house of fun, magic and history.The 60-minute tour will delight its guests with stories about the building’s creation, clips from favourite Kids at the House shows and explore the theatres where the shows are brought to life. At the end of the tour, kids can hop into the free Creative Play area or refuel at the Kids Discovery Tour corner, where they can pick up a special lunchbox.

Dates: Saturday 13 – Sunday 28 April, departing at 10:15am, 10:45am, 11:45am, 12:15pm, 1:15pm

Who wants to be a comedian? Harness the absurdity of The Listies in Sydney Opera House’s free Creative Play area during the April school holidays. Enjoy the installations and participatory activities for ages 4 and up. Creative Play is where kids become the artists!
