Out of the Vaults: Celebrating Mary Poppins’ 80th Birthday
Thursday 26 June 2014 - 6.00pm

 
Fiction’s most famous nanny celebrates two birthdays this year. Mary Poppins by PL Travers first appeared in print in 1934, and in 1964 the Disney movie was released. To honour her creator, Australian author PL (Pamela) Travers, this special Out of the vaults will take a look at the PL Travers collection here at the Library.

On display will be personal photographs, correspondence and movie ephemera. Oral history curator Sally Hone will also play recently digitised audio recordings, including interviews and talks, which offer fascinating insights into an enigmatic Travers.
